Found this stitch pattern in a much larger gauge in a sweater pattern on what I think was a blog in Portuguese - and found it so intriguing I though I’d just use it in a scarf pattern. I opted to make this only 2 skeins’ worth of scarf - just a little something to wear to work!

The 12-row pattern is as follows:

Row 1:
K3 * P1, YO, K3, K2tog, K4, repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3

Rows 2, 4, 6. 8, 10 and 12:
K3 * P9, K1, repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3 (you will have a K1 before the last K3, so you will really be knitting 4 stitches at the end, but the last 3 knit stitches will be part of the garter stitch border.)

Row 3:
K3 * P1, K1, YO, K3, K2tog, K3, repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3

Row 5:
K3 * P1, K2, YO, K3, K2tog, K2, repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3

Row 7:
K3 * P1, K3, YO, K3, K2tog, K1, repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3

Row 9:
K3 * P1, K4, YO, K3, K2tog, repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3

Row 11:
K3 * P1, K9, repeat from * to last 3 sts, K3

Repeat these 12 rows until you get the length you want, add fringe or finish as you like; wash, if necessary, block and wear:)!
