9-15-15

Trying out the cardboard foot I made for myself. Hopefully this is measured correctly and these socks work! Starting with 20 sts and increasing to 56 before starting the foot, like the Happy Birthday Socks recommended.

9-17-15

Switched to a 9” circular because all this stockinette kind of sucks on 6” dpns. *Later* Switched back because OMG, tiny needles blow.

9-19-15

Finished the first sock with 83 rounds before the ankle hinge and tried it on and it was too tight around the ankle. I ripped back (a little too far) and will have to redo the second half the the heel and up. I’m also adding 12 extra sts (four every third round) in the 11 row plain section after the heel to see if that helps.

9-25-15

Finished the first sock again with the increases in the ankle portion. It fits better now but it still pretty tight in the heel section and a little loose at the top. The pattern advises some increases (probably four will do me) on the first row of the heel so I guess I’ll try that next go round. I think going up to 64 stitches around may help too. Guess I’m going to tear it out and try again.

9-26-15

Foot finished for the third time (24 sts YO increased to 64, 87 rounds to the hinge). I liked the yarn over increases I used in the toe. Thanks, Internet!

9-28-15

One sock finished again. It’s still tight across the hinge (I totally forgot to do the increases there) and it seems that with 64 sts around, I don’t need the extra ten sts in the ankle bit. I’m not frogging again, though. This is close enough and I’ll have a better version next time. I wonder if my issues are because I had Robert help me trace my foot. I’ll make Ken help me do another next time. *Later* Well, I can’t just leave it. Frogging again.

10-11-15

Trying again with a new Ken-traced foot, 3.25mm needles 2@aT. I increased every other round five times and every third round twice.

10-14-15

Finally finished the toe box with 20 rounds. It’s looking pretty good…

6-6-17

Finally picking this up again while I wait for new needles and yarn to arrive. I despise 2@aT and I’m going back to DPNs or 9” and just try to fight the Second Sock Syndrome (on r45). Fuck my sock life. :(

Pattern Shit

Using Judy’s Magic Cast On, I started with 30 sts and increased to 58 before the foot.
I did 87 rows to the ankle hinge.
I did 12 plain rounds after last heel round (the one where I started plain knitting again, after the last round with twin stitches in it), increasing two sts every other round five times.
I did 5 rounds ribbing and finished up with Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off.

In making socks for other people, I figured out what I needed to make mine. Gonna frog this and use the yarn for a hat for Ken.
