I just ordered the yarn for this sweater. I hope to be casting on as soon as it comes in. Also using this as an opportunity to try out Knit Picks nickel plated circs. This will be my second Owls, and of course it has to be in Purple, my favorite color.

7/31: Started with size 1, got 5 inches into torso, and after trying it on realized it was a bit too snug. Ripped out and restarted with size 2. That should make it form fitting but not overly snug like the 1st attempt. The WoTA yarn is not as bulky as the pattern calls for, but I do like how it coming out, and am getting pretty darn close to gauge, so I’m going to keep going without changing needle sizes.

8/4: Have 13.5 inches done on torso. Pattern calls for 15-19 inches, so I’ll be frequently trying it on tonight to get perfect length.

8/5: After trying on and measuring, have worked 16 inches on torso, and have started sleeves using magic loop two-at-a-time. First couple rows are tricky, but now it’s working quite well!

8/13: The sleeves are done, they have been joined to the body, and… I’m having a Knitting Attack moment. Forgot to put 4 stitches from one sleeve on hold. Got 4 rows into post-sleeve-attachment phase. Now need to undo, put stitches on hold, and re-attempt.

8/16: In the middle of the Owls right now!!

8/17: Just finished casting off. Used 10.5 needles, and used a stretchy bind-off. Still need to weave in ends, determine buttons, and sew them all on.

8/20: Ends are all dealt with. Contemplating buttons now! Narrowed it down to 8 choices.

8/22: DONE! Finished sewing on the last buttons tonight!
