Started this last night! Quite excited even though it will take forever. I’ve cast on 25 stitches in sock yarn, and I’ll be using odds and ends of sock yarn - some of mine, and some RAKed. I have a handy stitch-holder thingy so that when it gets big enough I can keep using it even when it’s not been cast off!
Each stripe is 8cm, and as of 19th February 2010 it’s 27cm long.

It should be noted that Alejandro the Sock Monkey was made by the highly skilled and talented Mazzlestar, and he was put in the photo for scale purposes.
I have now knitted all the sock yarn scraps I have! So, it will live on a stitch holder and be used as an actual blanket until some more scraps appear. I’ve even sewn in all the ends, look.
I can’t believe how big this blanket has gotten. :) Here’s to many more rounds!

I declare this blanket finished! I’ve not done anything sensible like finishing at a corner to make it square, so it kind of stops just after a corner. But that’s okay, perhaps one day I will pick it back up again. Now I will start a new sock yarn blanket, with mitred squares!
1st January 2014
I have picked it back up again. :D The mitred squares were fun for a while, but this is definitely the best TV-watching knitting project and I am enjoying taking it up again.

I just uploaded the dark photo, the one with the cat for scale where the blanket is spread over the bed. Wow, it’s grown! It’s 1.5 rounds bigger than the previous photo with the sock monkey in it.
