Notes

I was given three skeins of this oh-so-soft yarn from a friend, and I knew immediately that it needed to be a shawl, because the colour, and drape was absolutely perfect.

I wasn’t sure which pattern to use for it, for a long time, but then I finally realised it needed to be geometric. I’ve had this pattern in my queue since 2009, but I always expected to make it out of “proper” yarn (basically, lace weight).

Something told me to go for it, so I did! I am so very happy with the results.

I did make some modifications, however. I was not a huge fan of double spine thing going on, with the pattern as written, so I removed the extra decreases and YOs on the edges.

This causes problems on row 9, so I added a m1 on each of the 4 edges, 1 stitch in.

Also, on the edging chart, I took out the columns of YO’s (and their corresponding decrease) in the little triangles. I liked the Star Trek Insignia look more than the YOs. Gotta cross those fandoms, yo!

Bottom picture is unblocked, above is blocked, and above that is an example of dog assistance.
