Update (07.05.11)
I have now lost 38 pounds, and I am casting on!
1-This pattern calls for DK or light worsted. My yarn is worsted, so I have gone up a needle sizes (went up 2 needle sizes last time), and cast on only 90 sts, as per the 36” size (41” size in DK called for a cast on of 103). Bound off shoulders of front on 07.11.11, and the size looks GREAT!!!
2-07.17.11, I now have the front and the back done and I seamed it up before the neckline and sleeves. ‘Course, when I tried it on, it fit pretty good, and with my slimmer profile, I am thinking it may just be a tank…finished pictures should be up this week (I hope)!
3- Yay! It’s done! I did decide to just go with the tank…(pictures on me soon), and I am very pleased. :) For modesty’s sake, I decreasd the collar in 9 places, 6 on the front and 3 on the back, in the decrease row. I can’t think of any other mods I made…I think it’s still a bit short, but I like it, so I am just keeping it like that!

Update! (02.25.11)
I knit this tee last summer (started 05.23.10, finished 06.04.10), then I lost 30 pounds. I have recently frogged it so that I can re-knit it with the same yarn, which I LOVE! My only dilemma is whether to re-knit it now (so I have it), or wait until I lose the next 30 (part of my big life goal this year). Stay tuned to find out what happens!

So, I learned that 800 yards of worsted yarn is plenty for this tee, with sleeves…and there is a little leftover, too! If I ever want to knit a longer one, I will need another 100 yards at least…or I will need to lose weight… :o) I also learned that I might even be able to cast on even fewer stitches at this weight of yarn…esp. with all cotton. We will see how much it “grows” when I wear it tomorrow!

No growth at all, it appears. It felt about the same at the end of the day as it did when I put it on. That said, this is pretty roomy on me, and I will do the next worsted one at the next size down…I think that would be a cast on of 103 for each piece. I think there will be one in wool, with long sleeves, for the cooler weather…or perhaps I will turn it into a cardi!

Mods:
1-This pattern calls for DK or light worsted. My yarn is worsted, so I have gone up 2 needle sizes for a nice drape, and cast on only 110 sts, as per the 44” size (48” size in DK called for a cast on of 120), but I still think this may be too big…I measured the gauge…hmmmm
2-Yep, still probably a little loose around the waist, even after the decreases. Rather than adding more decs, I have added 12 rows of 2x2 over the 66 center sts of the back piece where you knit 14 rows between the decs and the incs. I think it will pull the thing in just enough…
3-On the collar, I got a little paranoid about too much cleavage, and I wanted my collar to sit higher. I added decreaces at the center and sides of the front on a couple rows of the garter st. There is a little pucker at the center front, well it was supposed to be at the center (it’s a little off, like me), and it gives the top some character!
4-Adding the sleeves, picking up stitches around the armhole opening and knitting top-down, using short-row shaping…here is a link to the method/explanation I followed!

05.25.10 - joined second skein this morning, and some of the colors are waaayyyyyy different! I should have alternated, but I was too lazy, and I am way to lazy to rip and restart…soooo, it is what it is, and it is all mine! lol

05.26.10 - I am apparently driven to knit this tank, because I have finished the front and bound off the shoulders, and I have cast on the back. That means that it is half done (if I do not add sleeves), and about 45% done if I add sleeves)! Totally jazzed!

06.03.10 - First sleeve finished! This is the second time I have done a top-down, set-in sleeve with short-rows, and I liked working it into this adult sweater much better than when I did it on the baby sweater last month. I think the smaller sweater was just too fidddly.
