Notes

Very nice, quick, simple yet beautiful shawl. The pattern is well-written, and the lace chart is really easy to memorize. I will definitely knit this pattern again.

I called this project St. Petersburg shawl because I knitted it during the trip to this beautiful city and the shawl’s color reminds me the color of the sky and the water in the channels of St. Petersburg and the person whom I made this shawl for also lives in that city.

knittimo’s laceweight Maluka inspired me to knit his shawl also in laceweight yarn. This super soft merino-silk blend is gorgeous, so shiny and beautiful. This yarn is rather cobweb then lace and when held double it forms light fingering to lace weight. So I did only 33 repeats of lace chart, just like the pattern says.
My mods are:

  • I slipped the last stitch of the row and knitted the first stitch through the back loop on the edge side too

  • for short rows I did the regular “wrap and turn” instead of “K2, ssk”;

  • didn’t do the garter edge rows just because I ran out of yarn.
