Notes

I am changing the Christmas tree into a fairytale tree….
Making a dress for the Christmas tree.
This tree is meant to be part of the background for the fairytale I am writing, knitting, crocheting, etc.
More information about this fairytale at my website.

The part at the bottom will be freeform crochet and knitting. I also use 2 scrumbles in this that are made by Jorel of the international freeform forum group (IFFF here at Ravelry). Thank you so much Jorel!! This is really a wonderful prize I got by winning in one of the games of the Second Anniversary Happenings of this group.

The tree part will be a combination of sprang, knitting and crochet.
I have added also some scrumbles of the IFFF lace CKAL - Bruges lace.

July 3: I have just finished the bottom part…
July 6: I made a scrumble for the next fairytale tree (or a leaf of the first one) using broomstick lace.
I also did the what if game….. What if you try it with knitting?

Inspired by the Summit shawl I started to use this as a starting point for a very textural freeform piece. I now know I will not use this piece in this tree, but I save it, probably I will use it in my next large folding screen…..

July 31: Worked at some crocheted leaves with the embellisher (punching machine).

August 17: All parts that are finished are pinned to the tree. I still need some more, but I am happy with the progress.

August 27: I have finished all the leaves now and they are all attached to the tree. Still have to cover the under part of the tree trunk with some knitting or crochet. And probably I will also add some embroidery. New photos will follow soon.

August 31: Finished!!!! Some embroidery was added to tie everything together. Added a first photo today, but not enough daylight to make more pictures.

September 1: More photos….. The big bird at one of the photos is Alchemy - the big bird in the fairytale of the frightened little bird and the dragon.
The fairytale tree is approximately 180 cm. high.
