Notes

Size 4T shown on my 2.5 year old (who wears a size 2T), Works perfectly as a tunic right now, so this will fit for a couple of years.

  • Folded hem and knitted it down as I went, rather than sewing it at the end

  • My gauge: 7.5 sts and 10 rows = 1 inch

  • The first hank of yarn gave me 7” of length (not including folded part of hem)

  • 22 rounds between body decreases (due to row gauge issues). Also fudged the spacing of all the bodice decreases. Used the schematic to make sure I ended up with the right amount of inches.

  • 38, pm, 5, pm, 38 (for broken rib placement on front of tunic- size 4)

  • Inside ruffles: picked up 35 sts (approx 3 sts every 4 rows) Outside ruffles: picked up 30 sts (they are even at the top with the other set of ruffles, but are shorter)

  • Worked collar in garter stitch to match the sleeve edges. Lace (aka Russian) bind off to keep the neck opening stretchy.

  • Crocheted slip stitches around back opening to make it neat and sturdy

  • It seemed too plain, so I added 4 pink buttons. Love it!

  • The finished shirt is cute, but the instructions are poorly written. I doubt I’ll knit this again.
