I have started making my solid granny squares for this. Only the black ones so far. Each square is 7”x7” so this will be for a queen size bed. There are two patterns up for now, one has 3 of each shape and the other has an uneven number of shapes and more black space. Since I’m making this for my boyfriend he will be choosing which one I make!

This was my very first attempt at granny squares and I had a rough start. I’m not sure that they actually look right but they are square shaped and have evenly spaced holes so that’s all that matters. If they’re wrong, then they’re consistently wrong at least!

Update: 2 weeks in. I started with the black squares. I have 30 finished and only 38 left to go. After 1 week of starting this project I started a full time job so I haven’t had much time to work on it. My goal is 2 squares a day and it takes me about 1 hour each. I now have all of the colors purchased except the light cyan blue. I’ll worry about that one later!

Update 2009/08/30 - 77 squares down, 55 to go. This blanket is going to be larger than a king. Dang.

Update 2009/10/11 Happy turkey day to all my fellow Canadians! I only have 35 more squares to make before attempting to stitch this monster together. I’ll take a picture of the square pile when I’m done making them. I am so tired of granny squares!!!

Update 2009/11/22 well only 17 black squares to go. I laid out the squares so you can see my actual progress. Colour saturation is very wrong though, they are all vibrant colours not pastels.

DOOOOONE! Final blanket phone pics are the last two laying on my bed. The layout pieces were changed around a bit so the final patter was more accurate. Not sure what I’m going to do with the blanket yet as it’s no longer a present. For now it’s just comfy and keeping me warm lol.
