Then knit 45 rounds. Knit half of the stitches (bottom) with contrast color yarn (heel later) and 4 mm needle.

Knit 15 more rounds with 3 mm needle and original color. Increase one sts per needle on row 16 after the heel-row. Continue knitting 5 rounds with 4 mm needles.

Then knit rose pattern for 18 rows, increase 3 sts and k1p1-rib for 5 rows and bind off with stretchy bo.

Attach some wool on the inside sole of the foot and needle-felt it, then water-felt lightly and brush (bottom): super-soft socks!

The other sock as a mirror and with stripes instead of the roses.

Knit heels with these instructions and yarn held double:
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/afterthought-heel...
Kitchener stitch bind-off on heels.

Needle-felt some wool on the inside sole/bottom of foot and felt in steaming water and brush!

I love the idea that I can just knit-knit-knit and think about the heel later. The socks are thus easy to knit and the end-result fits really well. I enjoy making the heels this way.
