I’m 5’7”, 190 pounds, and I made the medium size. It ended up pretty gigantic on me. I made the mesh at the bottom tighter in hopes of helping it fit a bit better, but that didn’t work either. I felt like I was wearing a big mesh bag (The last picture I uploaded. I “Before”, if you will)

I ended up unraveling back to the end of Row 2 on the body, then instead of proceding with Row 3 as normal, I did a modified chain mesh. I did the mesh the way it was instructed for the bottom, except skipping the ch 1 openings in the V-Stitches.

Then, for rows 2 and 3 I did:

(ch 3, sc in next ch 3) twice, ch 3, skip ch 3, sc in next ch 3. (basically I did the mesh, except I skipped a ch3 every 3rd time).

For rows 4 and 5, I did the chain mesh as normal. I had 28 ch-3 spaces.

For row 6, I did:

(ch 3, sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, sc in next sc) Around. To bring it back to 56 ch-3 spaces.

Then, I repeated Row 1 of the body, and continued with 2 more repeats of the body as normal. I then did the mesh at the bottom as normal, except for only doing 4 rows of mesh (I would have done 6 as per instructions, but I ran out of yarn!)

This helped the shirt significantly, and made it more form-fitting. I also LOVE the “Country Stripes” colorway from Sugar N’ Cream, so it was really fun to switch it up, and having a couple different bands of popping color really added a lot to this pattern. If you are my size and don’t want to modify the pattern, I would suggest making a small size so that it fits the form better. This pattern really seems to run significantly large (I was even slightly under gauge when I started, too!)

I also feel compelled to mention how fast this project works up. I started it on a Monday, finished it by Wednesday, unraveled 75% of it on Thursday, and had it finished (again) by Saturday. Basically, I could make two of these a week if I wanted to. If you’re in a crochet rut, or need a really quick present, this is definitely it.
