Notes

1/10/16 Washed, dried and delivered!

1/4/16 Finished all the knitting and wove in all the ends! I added a pocket by picking up stitches along the edge of one of the squares and knitting the same number of garter ridges. On the first few RS rows I increased a stitch near each edge so the pocket would be a little bigger. It worked out perfectly! I seamed the edges to the blanket and then finished the open edge with I cord bind off. Now to wash it and gift it!

I used the car blanket pattern as a base idea, but worked it completely differently.

12/31/15 Working on the I cord border using the solid black and the US9s. Hopefully I will have enough of it left to make it all the way around!

12/27/15 All the squares are knitted!

12/26/15 So I didn’t finish it by xmas, but it’s getting closer. I have one more square to knit, then will work on a pocket and an I cord border. Then one million ends to weave in…

12/7/15 I’m quietly plugging away at this. I have high hopes of finishing before Christmas!

11/13/15 I’m glad I don’t have a ton of the grey yarn. I finished the first grey square and it was way slower going than the CSS. At least it all looks pretty nice together.

11/12/15 I’m halfway through the fourth square. I’m joining the left edge of it to the live stitches from the first square. At the end of each RS row I knit the last stitch together with one stitch from the other square. It’s turning out well so far.

I do not like working with the grey yarn. It’s a little heavier than the other yarns and it’s working up very tight and stiff on US7s. I wanted to do this whole project on 8s but I don’t have the right needles for it. I tried swatching on 9s but it was just too loose. In any case, it’s the only suitable grey yarn I have, so I’m just going to suffer through it. The grey and red are important because I guess they are Ohio colors, which my FIL is into. Plus it’s getting rid of some stash and putting it to good use.

11/7/15 I’ve made two squares so far, log cabin knitting style. I left the stitches on each live as I’m intending on joining more squares by knitting them on, kind of like a lace edging. We’ll see how it goes!

11/6/15 Not exactly sure yet how I’m going to do this.
