Notes

Gave in and went out and bought 16” circulars, this was way too annoying on DPNs. I was lucky to find any though--all the craft stores around here seem to think that people only use 16” with really large size needles.

2/1/09: It’s 10” tall right now and I can’t wait to finish it so I can make one for myself. I keep going outside lately and thinking “You know, that cowl I’m making for mom would be the perfect solution to my cold nose and the spot on my ears that hats don’t cover.” Of course, by the time I make one for myself Virginia will have given up on real winter and gone back to 40s and rainy for the rest of the season.

2/9/09: Starting to wonder if I’m going to have enough of the white. Eek.

2/11/09: After slipping it onto waste yarn and trying it on, I’ve decided it need to expand for the bottom 6” to sit nicely on mom’s shoulders. Spent a while trying to figure out how to do it. Brooklyntweed’s feather and fan chart for his hemlock ring blanket was pretty helpful in figuring out how it works. I have two plans, depending on how wide I want it to get.

2/13/09: Started expanding. Definitely need to buy more of the white tomorrow.

2/28/09: Done! Finally! See my blog for how I changed the pattern.
