Notes

Yet another pair of toe-up socks custom fitted to my wide Dutch feet. My foot is about 9-1/2 inches around at the ball of the foot, and nearly the same at the instep, but my heel is 12 inches around.

I used Spiral Knitting (Mary Thomas’s Knitting Book, page 230, photo on page 229) for the entire cuff. It makes a very stretchy ribbing that will fit over my heel and still cling and not sag around my ankles.

My sock formula is “Turn the toe, knit up the instep, knit a short-row heel on about 70% of the stitches, knit a cuff a smidge longer than the foot”.

I used Wool-Ease for the toe, foot, and heel because I wasn’t sure the two-ply Collage would stand up as a sock foot.

Gauge was 26 st/4 inches, 36 rows/4 inches. (I am a very tight knitter and like a sock that just about stands up by itself!)
