8/7/2011--Sewed the last button, weaved the last end, modeled, photographed, and ready to wear when the weather turns. Woo hoo!
My shoulders are narrow and sloped. Thus, the finished coat is a trifle too large through the shoulders and armholes, which in turn makes the sleeves too long. That defect is remedied by folding up the cuffs.
The buttonholes were placed too close to the inner edge of the buttonhole band, something I didn’t actually notice until I started putting the buttons on. The pattern has the buttonholes placed on the 4th row from the picked up edge. They should be placed on at least the 6th, maybe even the 8th row, depending on your row gauge. Oh, well, live and learn.
Otherwise, I’m perfectly happy with it.
8/6/2011--So much for that finishing mood. The project stalled on assembly. Will remedy that this weekend.
6/6/2010 -- I’ve been in a “finishing” kind of mood lately, so I dragged this baby out of hibernation. The neck band has been done, as well as the button band. The buttonhole band is next; I ordered the buttons yesterday.
5/21/2010 -- Bought the necessary needles at Stitches South in Atlanta.
4/17/2010 -- I haven’t touched this project since about, mmm, November, when it stalled because I lacked the very long circular needle for the front/neck band. Still haven’t bought that needle, and now summer approaches. In Alabama. Will pick this back up in late fall when I can bear to think about wearing it.
10/22/2009 -- Fronts done. Now for the sleeves. Soft Tweed is a great yarn, even if it does look somewhat like spun dryer lint. The knit/purl pattern isn’t as distinct in this yarn as it is in the magazine, but the texture is still discernible. And pretty.
10/1/2009 -- Back done. Interesting rib pattern. As for the body: after the first few rows, I intuitively began to understand the stitch progression, making the “brocade” chart much less intimidating.
