December 4, 2016: So halfway up the back I noticed that I didn’t finish one of the intarsia motifs, ugh!

To fix something like this without frogging, take one knitting needle and slide it through the last row that was correct (in this case, the end of the black and white section). Then slide the stitches from TWO rows above onto another knitting needle and put it aside. SNIP the center of the row above the first needle and unravel the row to separate the knitting into 2 pieces. Pick up the first needle and use it to knit the rest of the rows you missed MINUS one row (the row that was below the other needle holding stitches). To finish, use kitchener stitch to link the two sections together with the color of that remaining row.

August 25, 2015: OMG, I totally didn’t finish a chevron fair-isle motif at the beginning of the front and just found out! I am NOT going back. Because each row is just one short piece of yarn (very few occur soon enough and on the right side to carry up), I will remove the row above the fair-isle and catch loops in the fair-isle section and in the striped section. I’ll finish off the damn chevron and then graft with kitchener with the piece of remove yarn. WISH ME LUCK!

August 10, 2015: Some thoughts. I actually like fair-isle, but I don’t look forward to the fair-isle bands of this top. Why? Because you have to knit loosely! If you don’t, you will get a much tighter spot for that band. Knitting loose on purpose is hard. But knitting loose with loopy firm yarn is really annoying!

I realized that with the tightening of gauge with fair-isle, the top was going to be fitted. So I added waist shaping. Also, I increased after waist shaping from 81 sts to 85 sts, in between small and medium. I’ll be doing the back all at 85 sts.

July 18, 2015:

I’ve been waiting for the summer to knit again with Rowan Pure Linen! I just love how it transforms from a soft rather unwieldy cord into the most beautiful and organic fabric.

I am using stash Creative Linen from this project. It used the called-for color Straw but I’ll replace the called-for Raspberry with Eggplant. It will be more muted with just that one change. Because I don’t have complete Creative Linen balls and have no idea how much of the skein is used, I am making the smallest size. That comes out to 37” so should be ok -- but the issue is that when I do the fair-isle bands, I always knit tighter…
