I am making this for my littlest one for Christmas…hence the red/orange yarn. She loves sheep, including our sheep in the yard so I thought it was fitting for her to have some to wear. First time using a superwash yarn, I am used to wool you cannot just wash.
10/19/13 I have knit to the sleeve line and read the pattern wrong. I made decreases 6 times, rather than 4 times so I had to take out a decrease and some length on the torso, then added to increases to get the 117 stitches I should have with size 24 months. oh well, I have never knit anything that I didn’t make a mistake like this on. you would think I would begin to read patterns ahead and count stitches more often! :)
11/1/2013 the sweater has been finished, buttons threaded on, and blocking in front of our wood stove as I write. I am pretty pleased with the final product. It looks too big for my ila but she will grow in the next two months for Christmas. It will be under the tree for her.
I used a super wash yarn for the red/orange main color and it was my first time using it. I don’t love it, I much prefer the raw wool feeling but I didn’t want the red to bleed on the white sheep. I used a white wool yarn given to me from the flock my own sheep come from and the chickadee black crow color from Quince & Co. As cute and warm as this is, I realize that all my favorite projects seem to be made from lace or Aran weight yarn so I need to keep that in mind. I will be knitting a 3 month size very soon for my first nephew due in February!
