12/22- done and done and done. i think. ends are in, they are blocked (wasn’t sure how to go about that, so i went for wrapping ballet flats in plastic bags to help their shape. seemed to work okay.). i’m worried about the size, but there’s no point in thinking about it too much until emi tries them on. fantastically cute and fast present, yee-haw!

now they are going to be wrapped and stuffed in a crochet stocking. how ironic.

12/3- i’m modeling these after tinyowlknits version. with her modifications and a little math/tinkering of my own i’m making these modifications: cast on 72. increase with the 6-12 month size, decrease with the 1-6 month size plus two extra repeats. no shoe collar, ribbing until the skein is gone. one skein makes one bootie perfectly. they are a little big on me, but emi’s feet are about a size and a half bigger than mine, so that should work fine!

i finished the first one within 24 hours of starting it, including casting on. cast on for the second this morning, and currently working on the ribbing. i still have to seam it, and i think these’ll want some blocking.

loving the technique of closing gaps in this! i was really intimidated by this pattern because i haven’t had a chance to make them without modifications before starting the full sized ones (i don’t know many pregnant people/babies). but the pattern is incredibly easy to do, and the change in gauge did most of the work for me. w00t.
