4/7 Cast on late at night, but was able to make a little progress. I used different provisional cast on techniques and ended up sticking to the crochet one.

4/9 Can’t wait to be done with the long, long boring St st. So far, 8”.

4/10 Such a slow progress. 11.25”. The one good thing about St st is that you can knit with your eyes closed :) and yesterday I had a terrible headache and could rest my eyes and still knit.

4/11 Progress: 14.5”. Almost there. Body is finally on hold and I am casting on those sleeve sts using this new technique. I will try to knit both at same time.

4/12 Last night, I was able to cast on both sleeves using the applied i cord cast on. I highly recommend not using a larger size needle to cast on because the stitches end up being too loose. I tried twice (first time with 4.5 mm) and ended up using the 3.5 mm needle. To knit both sleeves using ML, first, cast on half of the required number of sts plus 3, slip last 3 sts to left needle and pull them all the way; cast on stitches for second sleeve, pull needle cable and then finish casting on remaining sts for first sleeve.

4/18 I’ve been working on and off the sleeves as they take sooooo long. 6.5” long so far and another good 10 to go.

4/21 Started knitting one sleeve at a time and it’s so much easier :( . Almost done with one of them.

4/24 Short rows were pretty easy. Since I am left handed and my stitches sit in a different way on the needle, I had to close the gaps with a SSK on the right side (knit), but on the wrong side (purl) I just p2tog. Looks good!

4/25 Pleats are done. Hope I have enough yarn to finish off, but almost sure I won’t be able to add pockets. Started casting off.

4/27 Finished. Just need to block and find the right buttons.

4/29 Finally, a nice dry day to get the cardi wet and block it. Still have to go downtown Boston to get buttons.

5/5 The weather has been so warm I have not been able to wear it and take pics.

Note: Regarding the applied i cord cast off, I think the designer is either left handed or did the whole thing from the wrong side of the work because I had no problems following the instructions and I AM a lefty.
