Notes

So honored to be doing another test for the talented Irina Anikeeva. I love her designs!

This super cute pullover is knit from the bottom up. You start out knitting flat up to where the side slit ends. Then you join in the round for the middle part which extends to the underarm. This is where you separate front from back and start knitting flat once again. Shoulders come together with a 3-needle bind-off following some short row shaping in back and on the shoulders. The turtleneck is knit in the round for 3 inches and then you go back to flat knitting starting at the collar side slit.

I used size 5 US needles for the body, but size 1.5 US needles for the turtleneck. I bound off the turtleneck edge very loosely (all purl stitches) using size 8 needle.

I love the Cascade Sarasota yarn but I’m only giving it 4 stars because each ball had multiple joins.

This is a quick, easy and fun project. As usual, Irina’s pattern is extremely clear and easy to follow. You can do any kind of short rows. I usually do Japanese short rows unless the pattern specifies some other type. I’m very pleased with how mine turned out, although I would have preferred a more closely fitting turtleneck. Since I used extremely tiny needles and pulled all the neckline (picked up) stitches tight around the cable, I think my turtleneck is as close fitting as possible with the existing pattern instructions. Therefore, if I knit this again, I’ll raise the front of neckline at least one inch and pick up considerably fewer stitches. I’ll still be over to get it over any adult head since knitting is very stretchy. All in all, I’m very happy with this extremely comfy and cute pullover. I plan to layer it over a black, long sleeve sweater to wear in the chilly office where I work.
