Notes

Another gorgeous, romantic design by the super talented, Jennifer Wood. This darling pullover is top-down and seamless with a lacy, round yoke - a knitter’s dream project.

I’m holding 2 yarns together for this lovely project. I only used the size 3 US needle for binding off the ribbing at bottom and sleeve cuffs. For the latter, I used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off. For all other parts of the pullover (including ribbing), I used the size 4 US needle.

What I did differently:

I started out knitting the 3rd size (36”). After putting the sleeve sts on holders to knit the body in the round, I gradually decreased down to the smallest size (171 sts) when it was time to begin the bottom ribbing. I wanted this pullover to be fitted, tapering down to the waistline and below.

  • I cast on 2 extra sts under each arm to begin. I then decreased as follows:

1” from underarm - 198 sts (decreasing 2 sts each side)
2” from underarm - 194 sts
3” from underarm - 190 sts
4” from underarm - 186 sts
5” from underarm - 182 sts
6” from underarm - 178 sts
7” from underarm - 174 sts
8” from underarm - 171 sts (only 3 sts decreased)
Knitted straight until 10.5” from underarm before knitting Rib Stitch for 3 inches. Note that the Rib Stitch is a multiple of 9 sts.

Sleeves (I made full-length):

Note: 2 skeins of the Knit Picks Stroll Tonal yarn would have been enough for 3/4 length sleeves. I had to break into a 3rd skein to knit full length sleeves. Also, these sleeves fit slender, long arms. I had very little left of the 4th ball of mohair/silk lace - 43 yards to be exact.

I followed the pattern directions for the 3/4 length sleeves as follows except that I picked up 4 additional stitches, quickly decreasing to the number of sts in the pattern over the next couple of rounds. Then…

9 rounds stockinette, 1 rnd decreasing 2 sts. = 67 sts
I repeated the above 11 more times = 45 sts
Knitted 10 straight rounds before beginning Rib Stitch cuff.
Sleeves measure 18” from underarm. Sawyer likes to pull her sleeves down over her hands.

Rib Stitch Cuff (Multiple of 9 sts):

45 stitches

23 rounds = 3 inches.

I bound off using size 3 US needles and Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off.

Love how this pullover turned out! I’ll be casting on for another Wood House Knits pullover now…
