I love this one SO MUCH! Excellent colors, chosen to match my leethal VIP club colors (used in fonts and frames and stuff).
I striped my four colors in a pattern that made it so only two yarns would need to be attached to my knitting at all times, so I wouldn’t have to deal with the four balls getting all tangled up every other round.
I did this by striping 3-row stripes, with 5 stripes of each color, overlapping with different colors at the beginning and the end of the 5 stripes.
So I started with (green, white) twice, then I switched the white with blue and striped (green, blue) three times, so now there were 5 stripes total of green and the striping pattern was established, so all I needed to do was switch each color to a new color whenever 5 stripes were completed.
I switched out the green with orange and striped (orange, blue) twice; now there were 5 stripes blue so I switched out the blue for white and did (orange, white) three times, so there were 5 stripes orange… once it’s established it’s easy to keep track of what’s happening.
I weaved in ends as I knit whenever I switched colors (not for the 3x3 stripes, but when I switched to a new color after 5 stripes of a color).
This is the medium size, short height, about 145 yards / 133 meters used total.
This hat really seemed too small, all the way to the end, and even when trying it on after binding off, but then it blocked out perfectly and fits great! It is definitely not a loose fit, but it’s not too tight, just right. I may have been a bit tight on my gauge, as I was trying to knit this one quickly on a deadline and I tend to tighten up my tension when that’s the case. Anyway, I love it in the end.
