Notes

It looks so different in this kind of self-striping than with normal stripes! <3 <3 <3

This is the medium size, short height, with less than a full inch of plain ribbing at the bottom so the edge is extra wavy.

It used approximately 150 yards, so I had enough left over to make the narrow stripes on my other sample.

I knit this hat entirely as one of my first samples, when I was still working out the sizing, and it turned out too small and wouldn’t fit my head, so I frogged the whole thing and knit it over. That first sample ended up being the small size, and it was a bit smaller than that because my gauge was too tight - after swatching some other sport weight yarns I ended up using 6 sts/inch as the official sport weight gauge for the pattern.

This yarn is a bit lighter than the other ones I used, so while size US 3 needles was good for those, I needed to use size 4’s with this yarn in order to get gauge.
