We were having christmas-decorating day at school. The kids in my 3rd grade were making paper hearts in different shapes and we were chatting and eating cookies and just relaxing.
I had a crochet hook in my bag - and we had a skein of yarn from a previous project in a drawer, and we started talking about how to make a crochet heart. How big is was supposed to be etc, and one of the kids came up with the idea of making a chain string between two hearts, so you can drape them over a branch.

I started playing, and came up with this square of single crochet (am), topped with two curves of 9 Double Crochet st (am) each. Finally edged with a bit more single crochet. (and you can add an extra round if you want them bigger).

The directions in Danish (let me know if you want them in English, and I’ll translate):

3.klasses hjerter

1: Med alm. billigt bomuldsgarn og hæklenål nr 3 mm, slå 6 lm op.
2: Start i 2.m fra nålen og lav 5 fm.
3: Vend m 1 lm, lav 5 fm.
4: Vend m 1lm, lav 5 fm
5: Vend m 1 lm, lav 5 fm.
6: Vend arb.Lav 9 stm i 3 m fra nålen. km i hjørnet.
Lav 9 stm i midterste række“maske” og kmi hjørnet.
1 fm i hver m til hjørnet(4 fm i alt), 1 lm, 1 fm i hver m til buen (4fm). km i første bue-maske.

Lav et hjerte mere. Hæft ender. Hækl fra v’et i hjertet (toppen) en lm -snor ca 30 m (efter ønske), lav en km i toppen af det andet hjerte.Hæft ender. Blok og hæng på træet (eller i mit tilfælde: rosmarinen) :-)
