Notes

This was much easier than I expected. The pattern was very clear. Although I used a different yarn, it was very easy to adapt. Cast on 88 stitches and used mostly two strands of black sirdar crepe held together. I have had these in my stash for ages. Nonetheless, I hadn’t taken enough with me and luckily sister Betty had some similar yarn in her stash. I was able to mix and match without it being too obvious.

When I came to block the beret, I discovered a small mistake on one of the crown decreases but it’s hardly noticeable. That will teach me to knit at night in bad light! If it turns out that I’m a beret wearing kind of person, I’d like to make this in a possmerino or some such.
