Notes

An experiment. This may involve a lot of frogging and re-knitting until I get gauge and the right length/size. I decided to make mitts and not bedsocks with this yarn but I may still change my mind! Me? Make a decision and stick to it? ;-p

I am also considering (having knitted 2”) knitting these ‘top-down’ - in other words, knitting the hand then making the buttonhole for the thumb then knitting down to the arm before picking up and knitting the thumb. This way I will be able to make sure that I have enough yarn for a long-ish hand section (I am aiming to knit about 3”) so that more of the fingers are covered than in the original pattern.

If I do complete these, they should be great for walking with my walking stick, typing/mousing at the computer or laptop and for knitting/crocheting outside, all without getting a frozen hand.

I can see having to buy more of this yarn for socks. It is SO soft!

I made these with 54 stitches to compensate for my large hands and the small needles. I used 8x2=16 stitches for the thumbs.

All that is left to do is weave in ends and photograph them!
