Edging and border will be done in Charcoal
28/01/2014: The current (unusual) cold snap has motivated me to get working on this blanket again. One of my goal for 2014 is to finish it. Currently working on edging the squares that have been washed and blocked.
13/02: Only 3 squares to knit, then to block and edge the last 6. Placing the finishing squares on the floor, I now know that I’ll need to make this bigger if I want it to be a lap blanket for the couch. Might have to knit all the squares once again, will see how I go.
19/02: The first round of all 25 squares is now done. Just have to soak, block and edge the last 6, then wait until I order more yarn to keep going. Very happy with this little blanket so far, the squares are a lot of fun to make and using a different pattern for each means I never get bored.
01/05: I’ve finally bought the yarn to finish this blanket. Just waiting to receive it now and I’ll get right back to it. With a bit of luck, I’ll have it finished before the end of winter!
22/06: And I am done with the knitting. Woohoo!!! Just have to block the last 6 squares, then edge 29 of the squares with a row of crochet and put it all together. Still a lot of work ahead, but very happy to have reached the knitting milestone before our big move to cold country.
26/06: 48/48 squares knitted.
48/48 squares are blocked.
48/48 squares are edged.
27/06: On the home-stretch now. All squares are edged. Now to decide how to place them, crochet them together and do the border.
02/07: FINI!!! :) Two days before our big move and I couldn’t be happier. I would have selected an even bigger smiley face to express how happy I am with this blanket, if I could. This was my biggest knitting project ever: one year and 3 months in the making, roughly 125 hours of a labour of love. It’ll be put to good use in Bathurst, that’s for sure. I’ll try to take and upload pics before we go, otherwise it’ll have to wait until next week.
Project cost: $102
