Notes

Note: The increase rate does vary a little with this one. The WS rows are all +2, and the general rate for the RS is +4. There are a couple of exceptions to this however - chart 2 row 4 is +2, and in chart 3 row 5 is +6, and rows 9 & 11 are +2.

Sacre Coeur, first knit. :)

3 reps of the first chart, the transitionary half repeat, and 1 and a half of the second chart.

Both charts are infinitely repeatable, and lace can be all over or start at any stage later on after a plain section. The edging lace can be bound off after any row, creating a variety of edging possibilities.

Between the arches/hearts in the first lace, and the stained-glassy look of the edging, this seems an appropriate name, especially as it was knit while ruminating on the beauty of a heart when it is full of love.

Adding a bead calculation which assumes you are working all over lace shawl. This calculation is for the main lace, the edging repeats use slightly more.

Love this yarn - gorgeous rich colours! Used exactly half a skein, and shawl(ette) measures 140cm x 45cm.

(14/2/15. Decided to reshoot this one, and was very impressed to find that having been scrunched up in a bag in the cupboard for 6 months, the blocking had held beautifully apart from the very tips. Decided to block it again to get the points of the tips straight and pretty for the camera, but instead due to a series of unfortunate events, I only made matters worse! Lesson learned: don’t block around crying babies or when in a hurry due to imminent sunset.)

Please feel free to drop into the Nimble Knits group and see what other knitters are cooking up. http://www.ravelry.com/groups/nimble-knits We have new test knitalongs (deadline-free! open to all, and free choice of yarn) starting up all the time.

The 2 pics lying on the bricks are pre blocking (well, technically slightly blocked on the clothesline but before being taken inside for some really serious business.)
