Now that I’m in a place where I can justify wearing sweaters for the majority of the year, I figured I’d better expand my collection to cover a variety of occasions. One of them being this -- I have a lot of t-shirts and tank tops but not so many long-sleeved things. Never had much use for them before. Most of the year here, I’d be forced to layer them over the few long-sleeved tees I have if I wanted to wear them at all, which can get sort of annoying when we go into heated rooms and I’m wearing several layers. The solution? Removable sleeves! It slips easily over almost everything and don’t overheat indoors like an entire sweater can.

This is my first crocheted garment, so I’m rather pleased with the opportunity to expand my clothing-making skills. It fits nicely and will probably be taken out for a spin in the upcoming week. I did it in a slate blue worsted wool rather than the fuzzy acrylic of the pattern, since I wanted more of the traditional sweater feel to it. Same weight and ply values, though, and followed the pattern exactly otherwise. Had to resist the urge to embellish it, since it is supposed to be an accent of color over other garments rather than a show in itself.
