This will be my second sweater if I succeed. Also, an attempt to move forward from knitting flat one-piece objects.
10/25 - Have now learned how to join stitches to start knitting in the round. Have also succeeded in keeping everything facing the right way so my piece isn’t all wavy and distorted. Small steps, but still pretty pleased, since I’ve been learning to knit almost exclusively off of Google web searches :-)
10/30 - Made pretty much according to the pattern. Only alteration so far is that I wanted the sweater to be longer, so went a full 17 inches before attaching the sleeves rather than the suggested shorter length. Probably as a result of lengthening the garment, however, I ended up running out of my second ball of yarn just a few inches into the yoke. So this project is now ground to a temporary halt until I can go buy another ball to finish it with this week. Ugh, I hate waiting.
11/4 - Finished sweater and threaded ribbon. Learned how to do a 3 needle bind off! The fit is pretty decent, though it ended up a bit looser and bulkier than I imagined. It’ll work fine layered over a turtleneck, however. The length is about where I want it, but the sleeves ended up being a little longer than I’d like. Still sort of ambivalent about the paper bag effect at the neckline, but am willing to play with it a bit. Not bad for my first project knit in the round. I’d like to try the variation with the long sleeves and yoke cabling, which makes this into a complete pullover. Done in a finer gauge, probably. This will be a nice, easy base to play with in the future.
