Notes

Thoroughly enjoyed this knit and often found myself grinning like an idiot. Chart 2 was OK, once I charted it out - just could not hold it in my head. Patterning both sides was not particularly challenging. Bobbles… well, I wouldn’t do them again. Great pattern, great yarn, great knitting. Actually quite a speedy knit if nothing else to get in the way.

The edging was fun to do but needs plenty of time allocating to it - it was certainly the widest knitted-on edging I have ever done (20 stitches) and the time needed took me by surprise.

  • Knitted entirely on straight needles (14” Signature stiletto points)
  • Weight 154g - approx 475 yards/430 metres
  • Blocked to: 50” wide, 25” long - approx 36” along the “wings”

28 June, blocking

27 June, finished

26 June - edge half done. More bloody bobbles.
Love the mock cable. Reminds me of Roman mosaics

25 June. Ready to edge

25 June. I HATE bobbles. Why I am I working them?

24 June - squeezed in some time on this shawl tonight. Now at row 15 of 25 in Chart 4. Soon be at the edging! Can’t wait. I love knitted-on edgings

15 June - transition Chart 3 knitted and Chart 4 begun. Am loving this - it is a fast and easy knit and the knit-on edge (I love ‘em) is coming up soon. Wish I could give this more than an hour or so a day, but I can’t.

14 June - Chart 2 completed - resting project now and working on Link for a while

12 June - Chart 2 - almost ran away, screaming. Couldn’t do the purl side stitch inclusions in my head and had to rechart in full. Now going very well indeed and I read that the later charts are far easier. That’s good :-p

Cast on late 11 June and did the first chart (20 rows, 49 stitches) Will probably rest this now while I get some other things out of the way. Then again… it’s fat yarn and big needles and grows seductively fast…
