I purchased this yarn for the Pretty Thing cowl and a set of Toasty mitts, but it didn’t turn out as well as I wanted, so I decided a very simple, looser cowl might be better - both for my neck (which seemed to be sensitive to Pretty Thing) and because it will match the mitts better.

My gauge was way off, partly because I just can’t knit k1p1 ribbing tightly, and also because cashmere is so much less sproingy than wool. My first attempt, with 100 stitches, was knitting up at a 24 inch circumference!

I ripped and swatched and the best I could get was 4.5 st/in on US 6s - it still had some of the looseness and airiness the pattern called for. So I cast on again with 86 stitches - aiming for 19 inch circumference or so. However, the final circumference was 22 inches!

I knit until it was 10 inches high. Modeled pictures coming soon!
