Finished blankie is 12 squares wide with 38 rows, with all edge triangles filled in and an i-cord edging.
Oct 2nd, 2010: I-cord edging:
- US 3s dpns
- C. on 4 sts
- k3, sl1 knitways, pick up one from edge, ssk
- repeat
Oct 1st, 2010: last triangle on the edge to do, then I’ve decided for the sake of time constraints (and my sanity) to just do the i-cord edging.
Feb 11th, 2010: square count before the Ravelympics: 277 (not counting triangle/half-squares on the edges). Total squares needed: approx. 500.
Jan 1st, 2010: Uh oh. Didn’t do a square a day and too tired to do the maths. Two squares a day to get it done in time? Also, must remember to sneak a bit from all the stashed sock yarn before I finish this one as I’m not sure how many pairs of socks will actually get knitted this year because of school, work, and all the other queued projects ;)
July 6th 2009: Must pick up the pace on this. Maybe 1 square every day? Seems to be 12 diamonds across and 8 rows to the foot, with a foot and a bit done ….. hmmm. I apparently need about 400 more squares and I have 541 days left (and must consider the time it will take to do the edging). Sounds about right!
February 2009: started filling in the triangles on the edges; I like it much better like this and will not do anymore provisional cast ons as I think it’s much easier to pick up without them.
Triangles:
Pick up 29 sts instead of 31.
RS rows: ssk, k12, double decrease, k12, k2tog.
WS rows: sl1 purlways wyif, k to last st, k1 tbl.
Continue doing this with one less plain knit stitch between the edge and center decreases until you have 3 sts. Double decrease and fasten off.
January 2009: back to this; it will be my Monday night class project.
04/24/2008: first swap yarn arrived!
This will definitely be an (extremely) long-term project (for Phoebe’s 21st).
