art and i first met at a rally for the international day against transphobia and homophobia. we hung out for two hours, during which point we mistakenly thought some other folks were chanting, “cunt! cunt! cunt!” turns out they weren’t, but we decided we should start chanting it anyway. we didn’t notice the news cameras until too late, of course.

we haven’t seen each other in person since, but we’ve cultivated a deep friendship online and via snail mail, understanding one another in ways that often our friends close to us in post code don’t. early on, art sent me a photo of a knitted hat with our favourite word emblazoned on it. i promised to eventually make them one of their very own. here is where i fulfil that promise. merry xmas, art.

i made need to start a line of dirty word hats…love this one. i can see it now: “slut”, “fuck”, “bitch”, maybe add “butch”, “femme”, “bear”, “twink”, “queer” for queer fayre. i feel like the kids back home would love them ha.
