10/6: Finished and it turned out well! Would I recommend knitting this pattern? Hell no. Even with the mods and fixings I did, there is just no way to get a sure fire way to get the front shaping down, and to match up with the inset part without trial and error, and that is always annoying.

The only other modification I made was to not add to the stitched picked up along the back. I picked up one stitch for each stitch that was there - 32.

I’ll also be seaming down the folds at the sleeves because they aren’t staying up with just the one button. But seaming it down should take care of the problem and look awesome.

I used 7/8” fabric covered buttons.

9/28: Working on the button bands and the button hole row is very clearly totally wrong. Changing button hole row to K15, BO2 3 times, K to end.

Seriously, Vogue? That is just stupid.

9/26: Working on the front neck inset and it’s totally messed up, too. Somehow mine turned out to be the LEFT NECK INSET, which could have been my own error somewhere because I was so confused by the increasing. Row 4 is NOT an increase row at all. Row 5 is the increase row and you increase 2 sts each Row 5. Couldn’t get that whole K1b thing, so I ended up just knitting like normal.

Because I had to adjust my decreases in the front piece to get that to work out, I knew I’d have to adjust my increases for the front neck inset, so I ended up pretty much just repeating rows 4 and 5 to match my front piece to get 29 sts.

Working on the decreasing now. We’ll see how that goes! SO FRUSTRATING!

9/25: I’ve gotten to the sleeves and found another problem - the SSKP dec should indicate that you need to slip the stitch back to the RH needle to finish the dec. You don’t want to knit that stitch again, but the pattern never tells you to slip it back over.

9/22: Finished the back with no problem. Have been working on the front for a few days and when I finished I realized the front shaping is REALLY off! The decreases out for the bottom of the bib front go up 6 1/2” of arm hole shaping, leaving the increased section only 2 1/2”, when the increased part is the largest part of the bib.

My gauge is on, so I don’t understand how the shaping can be THAT far off.

Took a good hard look at the picture and diagram and I’m convinced the bib front decreases should be a sssk instead of a ssk. I ripped the front out to try this more severe decrease, and will follow the increases as written.

You can see in the picture 4th from the bottom - the left side is the pattern as written through the decreases, then I had to increase out every row to get the measurements. As you can see, the decreases are WAY too long and throw off the whole shape of the bib front.

The right side is my sssk decreases, the increased as written, and it mostly worked out. I had to fudge the increases at the very top of the piece because it was still too long, but it’s a much better shape than the first try, as written.

So I’m ripping out the other side to match. WHEW!

9/8: Cast on for this during kick off last night! I’m calling it my football sweater because it’s my first project I’m tackling for Knitting Football League!
