Notes

So, I have been dying to visit Purlsoho and that dream came true this past weekend. I fell in love with this cape when I saw it on the blog, but baby, when I put it on OMG my life was made! I don’t have the proper vocabulary to describe this yarn. I think I had a yarn orgasm, yes it’s like that! I wanted to cast on ASAP, but how about I can’t find the other US9 tip for my interchangeable set. Sooooo I am doing a swatch, which I never do, to avoid buying new needles.

10/7 so I’m doing this on a US10 to get gauge, using my signature needles and enjoying the ride.
10/9 I am 5 inches in, hope to get to the sleeves by tmrw. I am loving this pattern. The slip stitch breaks up the monotony

10/11 so I made it to the armholes. I probably should have used stitch markers to avoid the one mistake that I am NOT going back to fix (insert rolling eyes) I am loving this project and this yarn…. Worth every penny! I may sleep in this thing when it’s done :)

10/13 I made it past the armholes, I am enjoying this project so much. I took a crochet hook and fixed my errors in the armholes. If I were to do this again, I would use stitch markers at the beginning and end of the armholes. That is where I kept messing up but thanks to RGV’s notes on her cape I realized I could fix it without ripping out.

I am in the increase section and I am down to 2 skeins of yarn. I always feel like I will run out, so I ordered 2 more…just in case. If I don’t need them I will make a hat to match. I love the look the slip stitch generates

10/16 3am: ok I am going to Rhinebeck this weekend and I want to wear my cape…so it’s operation get er done. All I have left is the neck and the I-cord edging to do.
Soooo I am pretty sure I did the cord backwards, lol but I dig it! I have decided to go with the cowl neck as per the notes on Purlbee. An easy way to transform the collar into a cowl: After you pick up and knit the stitches for the collar, instead of going directly into the ribbing, work the first round as (kfb) into every stitch. You will have double the number of stitches for the collar as the patter indicates. Now continue in K2, P2 ribbing until the cowl is as long as you’d like. Bind off in pattern- See more at: http://www.purlbee.com/2014/09/28/city-cape/#sthash.uf4Q6...

10/17 sooo my delivery didn’t come, but I want to wear my cape. Sooooo I pulled the string thru to keep the live stitches and when the yarn comes I will finish the neck. Oh and YUP I am wearing it to Rhinebeck

10/25 so my yarn arrived but life….so I just got to wind it and get back to finishing my cape. I pulled out the neck because I hadn’t picked up enough stitches, but all is well now. I ordered 2 more skeins and I plan to use them both..I want a generous cowl neck

10/27 FINISHED and I’m so very happy I decided to do the cowl neck.

P.S. I got a comment from Purlsoho on Instagram!! Woot woot :p
