Mods: Adding an extra butterflies/eyelets section, three more repeats of the knotted openwork, and more rows in the ruffle as well. I’m using ThetaNull’s calculations for the extra butterflies/eyelets.

I was planning to just do it as written, but I had way more yarn than I thought I did. I know, you’re sitting there like, “440 yards of fingering-weight mmmmalabrigo for a worsted-weight shawl and she’s talking about extra yarn?” That’s what I thought too. And then, after adding a couple of repeats of the knotted openwork, I found myself at 14 rows of ruffle with some 40 g of yarn left. So I ripped back past the knotted openwork, added the extra two sections, did ten repeats of knotted open work, have now done all ten rows of the ruffle, and still have 15 g left, so will be adding another four rows, I think. With a lifeline after the first two just in case I run short in the bind-off.

I kind of wish I’d done this on 7s, but I like the fabric, so I’m not complaining too hard. I really don’t feel like starting over completely. And it’s for BF’s middle child, who’s ten and looks younger, so I’m not all that worried about size. I just wanted to use up all my yarn. :P

22 Jan 2011 - Done. Not my best blocking job Evar, but that’s all right - and yes, I fixed it after I took that pic, so it’s better than it was. I’ll post better pictures when it’s off the boards. I was worried that the multi-colored yarn would distract from the pattern, but I think it’s okay, actually.
