Crochet: Afghan block
A friend was asked to make a few more squares to finish a very old blanket from an elderly friend. There was no pattern, so this is what I came up with.

Crochet: Beanie, Toque

Crochet: Beret, Tam
This is really more of a guideline to make a hat like the one pictured. Feel free to adjust as needed to get it just like you want. You can use this tutorial to make a similar hat out of other weights of yarn and other sizes. Remember, this is untested, written from notes from a few years ago.
Crochet: Stocking
This is a super customizable stocking cap for newborns. The pattern includes instructions for how to add surface crochet embellishments, but it can be left plain, or you can add other embellishments, flowers, pompoms, tassels, stripes, turn it into a Santa hat, and anything else you can think of!

Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This is a pattern for a basic knit hat with spiral decreases. It is knit in the round from the cuff up.
Crochet: Headband
Some people have chosen to add a loop and button for a closure, and just omit the chains for the ties. Another great idea a lot of people have used is to crochet in an elastic ponytail holder in to the ends to keep it adjustable, but make it much easier than tying it (and probably catch less hair, too).
Crochet: Brimmed Hat
Crochet: Booties
