This is a pattern I designed for my mother for her birthday. She loves open, free-formy laciness, so I combined three laces that I love to knit into one all season cowl.

I created this pattern for a lovely skein of dk weight Suri/Merino I got from Ann at Alpacas d’Auxvasse. The color reminded me of my favorite fisherman’s sweater, which naturally set my mind on frothy seas.

I thought of this easy lace design while walking in the wooded hills of Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri last summer. I loved the way the light played through the deep, cool green leaves above and thought… Somebody should knit that!
