When I created Socktastic, I wanted a pattern that would be fun and easy and maybe a little addictive. Well, it’s important to be careful of what you wish for because once I cast on, I co...

Several years ago Martha Stewart tweeted about how often her horses needed new shoes and I jokingly tweeted back to her that I didn’t see that as a problem because who doesn’t love new shoes, right? Well, she replied to my tweet and since then I joke that she and I are besties and our celebrity couple name is Lartha.

Wintertime is my favorite time to knit colorwork patterns. The longer nights and shorter days of winter seem to beg for brighter colors and patterns. The Sundance mitts are inspired by classic Norwegian mittens and sweaters with a touch of modern design.

A simple stitch pattern creates a spiraling lace reminiscent of the pirouetting dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. This project is perfect for that that special skein of fingering weight yarn that you have tucked away in your stash. The lace pattern really shows off in hand painted yarns while is interesting enough for semisolid colorways.

Needle is a small, slender sword that Jon Snow had made by Mikken for Arya Stark before he went away to the Night’s Watch. The sword is suitable to Arya’s slight build and the style of fencing known as “water dancing” used by the bravos of Braavos. Arya named it Needle as an ironic reference to her hatred of needlework. She som...

Deep beneath the surface of the ocean lie sunken pirate ships laden with treasure, fields of kelp swaying in the tidal breezes, and beautiful sea creatures swimming along the bottom. The Left and right socks are mirrored...
