Inspired by a fashion icon, Coco’s Pearls is an homage to those multiple long strands of beautiful pearls that Chanel is still recognized for the world over.

I was fortunate enough to live in southeast Florida for a few years and was always amazed at the sheer beauty of the ocean down there. I was inspired by the color and texture of this yarn to create a reminder of that beautiful natural phenomenon known as the Gulfstream as it sweeps its way northward in the Atlantic.

This cowl was originally designed as part of a Valentine’s Day collection but it is also my own tribute to the KNIT RED/STITCH RED Campaign, founded in an effort to raise awareness of heart disease in women. What better way is there to show the world how much love you have in your heart than to display it proudly in a gorgeous shade of red?

This summer I really enjoyed working with bamboo yarn - it has such a lovely drape and is silky soft to the touch.

The name for this cowl came about organically - it more accurately describes the process than the finished piece. I wanted to create a cable and seed stitch pattern and fell in love with the reverse side of the work as it grew.
