Crochet: Fingerless Gloves
These super-stylish steampunk gloves are just right for an age of brass and steam gizmologist (a person who has all the latest tech in reach and, better yet, knows how to work it all!). Not only are they the latest in steampunk fashion, with the coordinating cream and chocolate lace and ribbons laced corset-style up the front, but they’re the p...
Crochet: Cuffs
Perfect for a day indoors by the fire or a picnic on a cool autumn or spring day, these sleeves are both fashionable and cozy. Ribbed cuffs at the hand and upper arm make these opera-length fingerless gloves a little more casual, for every day wear.
Crochet: Scarf
This scarf is inspired by the character of Leana, from the book Thorn in My Heart by Liz Curtis Higgs. Leana’s husband, Jamie, describes her as “fashioned in gold and blue, the colors of the sky.” When I found this gold and blue yarn, the image of this scarf immediately came into my mind. Made of squishy acrylic yarn, this scarf is like Leana: ...

Daenerys Targaryen is my favorite character in Game of Thrones, both in the books and on the show! She is beautiful, of course, but also incredibly tough, resourceful, intelligent, and witty. Plus, there’s the whole dragon thing. Who wouldn’t want to be Daenerys? One of my favorite outfits she wears is the blue dress/coat in the scene where she...

Crochet: Headband
Victorian headgear is fabulous--the fascinators, the hats, the flowers, and the headwraps (although technically Jane Austen is pre-Victorian, see the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility if you don’t know what I’m talking about!). It’s hard to get away with fascinators and the like unless you’re going to a British wedding. So I’ve res...

Dirigible Gauntlets are a Steampunk inspired set of fingerless gloves. The hand and arm are made in a beautiful but not overly attention seeking pattern; the attention is left for the buttons along the seam and the black lace that accents all the edges. They’re worthy of a morning call, an afternoon tea, an evening stroll, and still perfectly s...

Where I live, the first day after February that reaches 40 degrees is cause for celebration: car and house windows open up, boots are traded in for flats (some crazy people even break out the flip flops), and winter jackets are abandoned in the closet. Well, that day is here! Even if we are bundled back up by tomorrow, I want to celebrate; henc...
Crochet: Fingerless Gloves
These gauntlets were inspired by Queen Victoria and the era named for her. They are approximately 9 inches from the knuckle down, and feature a delicate shell that extends around your hand.
Crochet: Shrug / Bolero
This shrug is named for the character Davina in the book Grace in Thine Eyes, by Liz Curtis Higgs. Davina wears a brocade bolero jacket in the book, and also has an important encounter with yarrow blossoms. Accordingly, this bolero shrug has a high collar that you can wear “popped” so it stands up and yarrow blossoms sprinkled on the back.
Crochet: Scarf
I designed this for my brother, who is obsessed with Assassin’s Creed. He asked for a hooded scarf similar to the one worn by the character in the game. If you really want to be authentic, make the hood all white. My brother wanted his in black with the top-piece in grey.
