This soft, smooth 75% wool/25% nylon sockyarn has been dyed in a traditional way, a sort of tie-dye process. Originally the yarn was dyed either blue or red, and the red looked like flame so it was called “Flame Yarn” or flammegarn.

The resulting fabric has flecks of light, something like a tweed but with a perfectly smooth fabric surface. It holds cables and stitch definition well in many types of patterning, but is lovely in smooth stockinette as well.
