This is a worsted-spun, 17 micron 4-ply, with lots of loft and elasticity (hence the relatively long meterage). It comes in 14 colours, inspired by the landscape in which the wool is grown--the high midlands of Tasmania. It is extremely soft, and can be worn next-to-skin. It will felt, but does so rather reluctantly (and with beautiful results, if that is what you’re after!), but is certainly safe to wash and block without fear of felting.

Buy it online at http://whitegumwool.com.au or from:
The Stash Cupboard or the Salamanca Wool Shop in Hobart, The Tasmanian Wool Centre in Ross, or Holland Road Yarn Company in Petone (near Wellington) NZ.

Independent dyers using this as a base include Augustbird, Anais Yarn, Colour by me/tres/, Miss Jane Knits, Nunnaba and Gradient NZ

Emma Gregory is an independent registered knitter whose yarn of choice is White Gum Wool.
