Kristine Steele Hughes
I learned to knit while regrowing bone in my foot after I tripped and fell on the way to pick up my youngest son, then 8. He is now 21 (2018).
Over the years, I have progressed in my knitting to designing and taken up weaving. I teach both at A Likely Yarn in Abingdon, Virginia, where I have worked since its opening in 2008. Most all of my patterns have been given free with yarn purchase at A Likely Yarn and knitted by many over the last several years. Be patient as I add older, as well as new designs! If you have knit one of my designs from A Likely Yarn in the past, please link your project to my pattern page, send me a message, and I will send you a code to add the updated pattern to your library.
I love natural fibers, US 5-15 needles, my rigid heddle Flip Loom, and thinking up new things to knit and share. I designed my own adjustable height weaving loom stand for 10” to 15” looms in 2016 and a 25” loom stand usable from a standing position or sitting on a bar stool. I SIT so much knitting and working from the computer, I figured out a way to stand and weave!
