My name is Zofia Ratasiewicz. I have a Masters Degree in Set Design, which frankly has nothing to do with this but I have it, so I need to include it somewhere.

The idea behind the name Rat and Sea Witch comes from the lovely people who tried to explain my surname phonetically in YouTube comments. So I went from Ratasiewicz to Rat and Sea Witch. Since I come from a seaside city and I am a witch this name felt right.

I had discovered knitting and crochet during the pandemic (classic), and I’ve been obsessed ever since! This knitting pattern venture started in 2024, when on a whim I knitted a fish. I always got super bored when making a basic stockinette project and I needed a little something to push me through, something to take the edge off if you will. That idea motivates each and every one of my designs. I want to create something that is fun to knit and fun to use.

I am very proud to be Polish so I try to sneak in some of my language into my pattern names. This is honestly terrible for business but great for my soul. Don’t be embarrassed if you can’t pronounce the names! Polish is hard, even for us.
