Please note images show garment size 7 on 104cm chest to achieve oversized silhouette. Sizes below are suggested based on chest circumference including 22cm/9” positive ease (11cm for bust width when laid flat). If a more oversized fit if desired, it can be achieved by sizing up 1 or 2 sizes.

The 01 Covered Cardi is worked flat in Half Fisherman’s Rib stitch on 3 mm needles. The body is worked in HFR with ribbed hem in 1x1 rib. Increased stitches at the side seams create volume for the slouchy relaxed styling of the cardigan.

Sizes 1-3 have a dropped shoulder, whereas size 4-8 have a modified dropped shoulder (a few stitches are cast off for the armhole to ensure the armhole seam doesn’t sit too low on the arm).

The sleeves are then worked with a decorative Rickrack stitch above the rib, and increased stitches on the overarm creating yet more volume.

The shoulders are sewn together using mattress stitch and stitches are picked up around the neckline to create ribbed button band. Finally the garment is pieced together and self-covered buttons are created and sewn in place.
