Currently (through all of 2023) the pattern is only offered as part of a kit. That kit is the 2023 SHAWL CLUB from Jimmy Beans Wools.

In January of 2024 the pattern will be available here on Ravelry.

Originally designed to be made with mini skeins in two curated colorways for the 2023 Shawl Club from Jimmy Beans Wool.

It could be made with yarns, fingering or other weights in different configurations. There are some notes in the pattern about adjusting the size of the motifs. But it is a fun and relatively simple pattern that would work very well for Advents and mini sets with 12 or more skeins.

The jumping-off point for the design was inspired by a piece from a designer living and working in and near Nuremberg, Germany. I teach interaction design at Nuremberg Tech. His name is Tilman Zitzmann and his work can be seen on Instagram as “Tilman” and at Geometry.com.

The specific inspiration for my design comes from a piece named #125 shafts, geometry. Therefore I am calling the design #125 Shafts, Geometry Shawl. This honors his original artwork’s inspiration. He was excited to know that his work inspired a knitter. I had a very definite idea of how I would make the piece. As often happens when I am working, several of my plans negate the ability to use other elements and I have to re-figure them. And, of course, this also happened here. I think that I honored the original idea and design, provided by the artist and also made it my own.

I met Aimée at Rhinebeck in 2021, briefly on the lawn there. Kind of funny that about 9 months later, I was asked to work with her yarns for this special project. The yarn & knitting community is so cool.
