Hook this useful string bag in no time at all. The body of the bag is made using a very large hook to give a light and lacy fabric. A smaller hook is used to create neat and durable top edges and handles. It’s all just single crochet! When stretched out like this, single crochet creates a lovely geometric mesh and it works up super fast. Doesn’t use much yarn either with such a large hook.

This bag has been designed for use in place of a standard sized supermarket plastic bag. It’s easily adjustable if you’d like a larger bag - just keep working the increase rounds for a fatter bag and/or keep working the non-increase rounds for a deeper bag. Want a shoulder bag - just increase the number of chains when you’re working the handle creation round.

You can make the bag out of any sturdy yarn but I suggest a DK weight cotton or cotton blend. Mine is made out of kitchen twine from the hardware store!

Hope you enjoy making and using this environmentally friendly shopping bag.
